This young ball club is one of the most recent newcomers to the American League and Western Division of the Major League Baseball Association. Established in 1977 and represented by the colors navy blue, northwest green and metallic silver, the Seattle Mariners may be young but have already started to make waves in the MLB circuit with some very noteworthy best finishes. In 1995, they won the division series by defeating the New York Yankees. In 2000, the won Wild Card berth title by putting a hurting on the Chicago White Sox. Peculiar to the Seattle Mariners is the tradition of "Rally Fries" which comes from a fan who spilled fries on the tract trying to catch a pop foul. Mike Blowers had a plate of fries sent to the fan and a tradition was begun. Fans started appearing at games with signs asking for the "Rally Fries" from Ivar's, a seafood restaurant in Seattle. A home game treat that fans have come to enjoy, Blowers chooses fans who are carrying amusing signs or wearing eye catching clothes and gives them the fries for free.
